3 Day Gorilla Tracking Experience In Uganda

On this 3-day gorilla trekking safari, you will visit Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and home to nearly half of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas. Trek through dense rainforest, encounter a gorilla family in the wild, and immerse yourself in Uganda’s breathtaking landscapes and rich local culture — all in just three unforgettable days

Day 1: Arrival and Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport or after breakfast in Kampala, your guide will transfer you to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in southwestern Uganda. The scenic 8-9 hour drive passes through lush countryside, traditional villages, and terraced hillsides. En route, enjoy a stop at the Equator for photos and lunch in Mbarara. Arrive at your lodge near Bwindi by late afternoon or early evening. Relax, enjoy dinner, and prepare for the next day’s trek. Accommodation will be in a mid-range or luxury lodge depending on your preference. Overnight at the lodge in anticipation of an unforgettable experience.

Day 2: Gorilla Tracking Experience

After an early breakfast, head to the park headquarters for a briefing by park rangers. You’ll be assigned to a gorilla family and trekking group based on fitness level. Trekking through dense forest can take 2 to 6 hours depending on gorilla movement. Once located, you’ll spend one magical hour observing the gorillas in their natural habitat — watching them feed, play, and interact. It’s an awe-inspiring wildlife encounter. Afterward, return to the lodge for lunch and relaxation. If energy allows, you may take a guided community walk to visit local Batwa people or enjoy views from the lodge.

Day 3: Return to Kampala or Entebbe

Enjoy a relaxed breakfast before departing Bwindi for your journey back to Kampala or Entebbe. You’ll retrace your route through the picturesque Kigezi Highlands, known as the “Switzerland of Africa.” Stop for lunch en route and optional souvenir shopping. The journey offers great photo opportunities and a chance to reflect on your incredible gorilla encounter. Arrive in the late afternoon or early evening for a drop-off at your hotel or the airport for your onward flight. Optional: domestic flight transfers are available for those with limited time. Safari ends with unforgettable memories of Africa’s gentle giants.
